I both live and and work here in Calgary, in the heart of Southern Alberta, in the traditional territories of the peoples of Treaty 7, which include the Blackfoot Confederacy (comprised of the Siksika, the Piikani, and the Kainai First Nations), the Tsuut’ina First Nation, and the Stoney Nakoda (including Chiniki, Bearspaw, and Goodstoney First Nations), and the Métis Nation of Alberta (Districts 5 and 6). I work and live on borrowed land, Northwest of where the Bow River meets the Elbow River, a site traditionally known as Moh’kins’tsis to the Blackfoot, Wîchîspa to the Stoney Nakoda, and Guts’ists’i to the Tsuut’ina. As a visitor on this land I strive to deepen my understanding of our local Indigenous communities and I commit to reframing my responsibilities to the land. I come with respect for this place I am a visitor in, and for the people who have and do reside here.

Everyone is welcome here.
